IGASM keeps it real to the name, every piece this girl does is exactly like an orgasm for your eyes. Her design sense and illustration capability combined with perfect can control means that every piece is flawless. Her burner style hasn’t gone unnoticed as she is a new member of respected Australian crew KOC, has featured in Ironlak advertising and teamed up with USET and MISTERY to star in a recent documentary filmed in Sydney.

Check out the short doco and some of IGASM’s work below:

There’s heaps of dodgy tag generators and virtual graffiti games available in the iTunes app store, there’s even that cute spray can app which makes can rattling noises as you shake your phone. They are all pretty clever and fun to play with but they won’t really help you with your IRL writing. So below I’ve put together what, in my opinion, are the top 5 useful apps for writers.

All City Street Art and Graffiti | $0.99

What it is: This App uses your GPS location to pinpoint graffiti walls, galleries and stores nearby. It allows users to upload images and tag the location so other users can visit the location to see the work.

How it helps: Been traveling somewhere for the first time and know there’s a great wall somewhere but can’t find it? Love a certain artist and want to stay up to date with their new work? You can also submit your own artwork which is a great way to promote yourself as you can also include links to your website from the listing.

Downsides: You’re probably only going to find legal and commissioned walls. It relies on users to generate content so there may be no listings for some locations. The temporary nature of graffiti means there is a chance that you might get to the wall and what you’re looking for is no longer there, although the site does encourage archiving of walls that no longer exist.

Get <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/all-city-street-art-graffiti/id359211420?mt=8"target="_blank">All City Street Art and Graffiti

5-0 Radio | Lite version: Free, Full version: $0.99

What it is: This is the modern version of a police radio scanner. The handy app allows you to listen to live communication between emergency services and other industries that use radio communications.

How it helps: Ever been hitting a red hot spot, heard sirens and wondered if they were coming for you? Ever seen flashing lights approaching, dirtied your underwear then realised it’s just an ambulance or fire truck? Yep, we’ve all been there… If you were listening to 5-0 radio you could have potentially known if that ghetto bird hovering overhead had you in its sights and kept you knickers clean.

Downsides: Some cities services aren’t available. You could be too busy listening to the transmissions to realise there’s bacon rolling up on you.

Get <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/5-0-radio-police-scanner-lite/id356336433?mt=8"target="_blank">5-0 Radio

Graffiti Wars | Lite version: Free Full, Version: $0.99

What it is: This is a graffiti game (yeah I know I’m meant to be posting real life useful stuff but I just had to include this one). The app uses the phones GPS so you can virtually get up and earn points for your bombs at your current location, so you are actually getting up (virtually), at locations (in real life), kinda confusing but I guess it means you have to leave your couch to go all city. You create your graffiti within the app using the variety of nozzles and tools and earn points by posting them at spots on real world maps. You are competing against others in your area and yes you can cap people (this earns extra points), hence the name. I actually know a heap of writers who are addicted to this game (I think they also post ‘real life’ graf images as well) so it seems getting up can be just as fun without all the usual risks.

How it helps: Well it’s not gonna improve your can control. But it’s fun, addictive and guaranteed to overcome boredom and the creator says you can “gain fame and respect”, virtually, I suppose.

Downsides: Some tools need to be purchased for continuing gameplay so you will have ongoing costs. You’re not really getting up, internet fame… need I say more.

Get <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/graffiti-wars/id405006403?mt=8"target="_blank">Graffiti Wars

Adobe Photoshop Express | $Free

What it is: Although not strictly a graf app, this simplified version of industry standard photo editing software Photoshop, allows you to complete some basic image enhancement such as contrast and exposure and add simple effects such as vignette blur and borders on your phone.

How it helps: Perfect for brightening colours and adjusting the exposure of an image taken in low light. Can publish straight to your social networking pages from the app which means you can quickly post a great looking image straight from your phone, so no need to download onto a computer to make image adjustments.

Downsides: Some additional features need to be purchased at a cost.

Get <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/adobe-photoshop-express/id331975235?mt=8"target="_blank">Adobe Photoshop Express

Ironlak Graffiti Lab v1.0 | $TBC

What it is: Still in prototype stage as a design project and not an official Ironlak product, this app is still worth mentioning as it streamlines the colour picking process of planning a piece. It also brings Ironlaks product range and newsfeed to your pocket. The app is broken up into 3 sections: products, news and the interactive graffiti lab.

How it helps: Most writers figure out their colours for a piece during the sketching stage, some colour it in, other just write in what colours goes where like a paint by number. This app could essentially modernize this process allowing you to figure out exact colours before going to the store to buy the paint. This would avoid those tough decisions like do I want Matador or Soviet?

Downsides: Still in development stage, may not ever actually be available. Colours may not be accurate on screen.

Last year’s STICK UP GIRLZ Australian tour produced a very sweet looking candy wall and our special SUG mini-issue. This year the hip hop community and some blank walls were blessed by 2 international visitors from the premiere all-female graf crew with SINAE and SAX toughing out the long flight from Europe to visit Australia and New Zealand. Truly an international crew, the very skilled with a spraycan ladies stopped by Sydney to visit Sydney SUG, SPICE and paint some walls including iconic Bondi Beach which they left looking amazing complete with beautiful characters of SPICE and SINAE painted by SAX. They then jetted off to New Zealand to visit crew member’s DIVA, OCHE and FLURO where a big production wall was brought to life. During the trip they also filmed footage for an upcoming documentary on the crew ‘Graffiti Meets Beats’, also the theme of their New Zealand wall. Can’t wait to see it and we hope to see all the SUG together in one place soon!

Q. What do you get if you put a bunch of dope chicks in a van with a tank full of gas, some skateboards and a trunk load of Ironlaks?

Sounds pretty damn flammable!

A. The Few and Far 2012 Tour!

Yep these girls do burn!

The Few and Far ladies recently hit the road and traveled down the west coast of America for their 2012 tour. Departing from Sacramento en route to Tijuana via San Fran and LA, the ladies left a trail of damage, destruction, some beautiful art and possibly a few broken hearts along the way ‘cos what’s not to like about a bus full of babes with boxes and boxes of paint! Owwweeee!!!

In their words:
“About two weeks ago, the Few and Far women hit the road. Traveling from Sacramento, through San Francisco and Los Angeles, we ended up in Tijuana Mexico. Along the way, a whole group of us (Amanda Lynn, Meme, Hops, Agana, Tatianna Suarez, Glow, Reds, Lady Mags, Erin Ashford and Beth Emmerich) stopped only to bomb the freeway and abandoned construction sites, to create two dope large scale mural productions, to skate in San Diego, to party, to cross the border and more.”

A few days ago I posted on our Facebook page a YouTube video of rapper Black Frost and her tribute to Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes which coincided with the recent 10 year anniversary of the TLC members passing. Although familiar with the fact that the track titled ‘Left Eye Back’ is a remix of a Meek Mill and Rick Ross track ‘Tupac Back’, little did I realise just how viral this ‘(insert dead rappers name here) Back’ remix challenge had become, so I thought I would compile a few and share them here.

The original Meek Mill track was covered by a number of rappers including ‘Pac’s homies The Outlawz, fair enough. But dig a lil’ deeper and there’s a whole heap of other remixes shouting out other deceased rappers including Biggie, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ow7V32qevVQ"target="_blank">‘Big Pun Back’ by Joell Ortiz, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0nvtESv5s8"target="_blank">Big L, Guru and yep there’s some Ol’ Dirty and Eazy E remixes out there too. Some more giggle-worthy covers are Lil Wyte’s <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnfzPwU1QLo"target="_blank">‘Elvis Back’ and Tyga and Chris Brown tell us <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2G64thYHCNo"target="_blank">‘Snapbacks Back’.

But wait there’s more…

Makes-me-vomit-a-lil-in-my-mouth winner is a very grubby whiteboy telling his webcam <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KO5-RXMrVgs"target="_blank">Cobain Back, and even man of the minute, Lil’ Wayne jumped on the trend with a remix using the name his Nanna called him <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMWjelw2hGQ"target="_blank">‘Tunechi’s Back’. Nawwww…

The original ‘Tupac Back’ – Meek Mill Feat. Rick Ross

But back to the Femcees, there’s a big difference in skills (and age, Miss Mulatto is like, 12?) and how much they are actually lyrically paying respect to the tracks namesake in the remixes. But it’s more or less a battle, who can be as lyrically great as the late Left Eye, it’s a big call but these chicks have had the guts to give it a shot. A couple of them have the stench of cheap fame, homegirl shouting out her social networking URLS in her opening verse, hmmm… But most are lyrically on point, the stand out being Black Frost and her clever lyrics which incorporate TLC tracks and other Left Eye references.

All in all, it’s pretty rad to hear a few different chicks tackle the same beat and then rating each one (or is that just me who does that?). It’s also nice to keep Left Eye’s memory alive as her, although short, life made a huge impact on so many women’s lives.

Give them a listen:

‘Left Eye Back’ Black Frost

‘Left Eye Back’ Audra The Rapper

‘Left Eye Back’ Miss Mulatto

‘Left Eye Back’ Miss P

‘Left Eye Back’ Queena Marie

‘Left Eye Back’ MC Jaci

‘Left Eye Back’ PoodeRich

and then comes the Aaliyah Back:

Jocelyn Bowman Aaliyah’s Back

Now I’m looking for the Amy Back remixes…

Rocking the wild west coast of Australia from 27-29th of April, the fifth Ladie Killerz female graffiti jam will see a collective of lady writers from across Australia get together in Perth, WA to paint stuff and most likely drink a few hundred kegs dry. Alongside all the craziness that happens when a whole heap of spraypaint inhaling babes get together, there will be an opening night exhibition showcasing the work of a variety of female writers and the live painting of a themed production wall across the weekend.

In case you’ve been wondering, we are taking our time with Issue 5, so as a reward for your patience we’re dropping this lovely shoot featuring the Spandex and Chaos range by Butch Diva, which you can find here. Although everything by default in this range is mighty-tighty, it’s also got an amazing habit of flattering more bodacious broads in all the right ways, so you can skip the salad menu and actually have a burger, with fries if you’re feeling really rebellious. The shoot was photographed by Beck Mansell and styled by the infamous Tammy Croucher. If you don’t know “hoo” that is, well, get the fuck with the program.

Click the image to view the spread full-screen. Requires a recent version of Adobe Flash player, which most of you probably have. If not, it’s stupidly easy (and free) to get, I mean, if you can’t figure this out you probably need plastic cutlery. Anyway, click the image, burger queens.

So how many chicks do you know with true hustle? Ones that have real street stories of how to make a dollar with no sugar-spun bullshit. Not many right? Well this lady has more than a couple of stories to tell, some of which you will hear in her raps. Sydney based emcee Sky’high recently gave us a minute of her time to catch up on what’s new in 2012, her signing to successful Australia record label Elefant Traks, three new filmclips that are getting airtime on national TV and to break the misconception that she is doing this for the money, nah-ah there’s plenty of that elsewhere, but music is what this chick was born to do!

Photo by <a href="http://www.sarahholmesphotography.com/"target="_blank">Sarah Holmes Photography

Hey Sky’high! I saw you post on Facebook that 2012 is gonna be your year and I believe it! In just the first month of the year you’ve announced your signing to Elefant Traks, dropped an EP ‘Your Highness’ and launched a filmclip for your track Hoodie & Nikes. Crazy!

How busy have you been in the lead up to all this? How much planning did it take?

Ha! Well they do say ‘Great Minds Think Alike!” 2012 is mine 2013, 14, 15 and beyond! But foreal tho… Thanks for the support sis much respect. I have been chill still but putting a lil more of my time into the music thing because I am in a good position now to take it somewhere. I haven’t been mad busy but I tell ya who does go hard is my manager Sam Dutch! He’s the one that’s been busy as fuck…like srsly?! Try imagine what it’s like to be Sky’high’s Manager?! hahaha. He’s pretty fuckin good at what he does! Honestly I really do not have a clue how much planning it took because I deadset didn’t plan for nada I just was doing what I always do putting my music out there when I can and it obviously grabbed the right peoples attention… my only plan in life is to get ahead. In saying that now I am at this point in my career and the opportunity I have been given, I’m not fucking around.

“I am at this point in my career and the opportunity
I have been given, I’m not fucking around.”

You’ve always had the reputation in Sydney as an emcee that has what it takes to blow up, without sounding like I watch too much bullshit TV, the ‘X Factor’ and it’s like in the last year or so you’ve gone into top gear and put in 1000% percent. Was there a ‘now or never’ moment where you just new you had to give it your all?

Is it that obvious huh?! Hahahaha that’s gold, nah not even close but I will be honest, I have had my fair share of ‘now or never’ moments and way too many close calls throughout my life BUT never with music, this is what I was born to do, my calling, now and forever. Reason why I didn’t take this more serious in 05, 06 and 7 is cos deadset 99.7% of Ozzi spitters couldn’t even make enough money to live off and well me and my brothers gotta eat… A LOT!

Elefant Traks has a great record of success with a certain type of artist and sound, your signing has come as a big surprise to a lot of industry people, I saw it called a ‘gamble’ by one. Obviously they know they’re on a winner but do you feel any pressure?

Hahay yeah Sky’high reppin Elefant Traks aye?! Who would’ve thought?????!!!!!! Any other artist then yeh maybe…but ME? SKY’HIGH? To the Elefant Traks supporters that are hating on me… I LOVE U ALL HAHAHA! and to the better rest of E.T supporters who have been supportive… LET’S GO! In all honesty tho I feel no pressure at all. When Urthboy got at me like ELEFANT TRAKS is family now, I was geed you know, but finger’s crossed they ain’t like my family at home cos them mutha lovaz are crazy as fuck. Hahaha.

Your music has matured a lot since I first started listening to your raps and you’ve developed a sound that really sets you apart from other Aussie rappers and the ol’ ‘aussie rap crap’ criticism. Do you think this will help you gain success overseas? Is that something you want?

Yeah I have grown up on the mic for sure, took me a minute to find where I fit in… but that’s Hip Hop. It helped me find myself at the end of the day you know, the biggest misconception about me is that I come from nothing and I am trying to use this to cop me a ticket out. BZZZZT. Yeah I did come from nothing, but I made my first 50g brick doin’ dumb shit when I was 17 and that was just the first 50, trust me. Back then why the fuck would I have stopped all that just to rap especially in Australia, rappers don’t get paid shit all unless you are the lucky few! I mainly do music for me, my family, the people like me and if you love what I do, I do it for you too. So yeah fuckin oath, if overseas love the flow I got to show love back. But that ain’t the main reason why I make music for, just saying.

“Yeah I did come from nothing, but I made my first 50g brick doin’
dumb shit when I was 17 and that was just the first 50, trust me.”

You’ve got a growing collection of top quality film clips which have been broadcast on high profile music video programs across Australia, what have been some of the best experiences during filming?

I know aye?! I been lucky to work with some talented people ASKEW1 who did ‘Look At Me Now’ and ‘Don Dada’ definitely knows his shit and Tristan Edouard who did the ‘Hoodie & Nike’ video has got it locked down as well. Best experiences so far… Well I fucking hate gettin’ my makeup done, so definitely not that part! It’s got to be ‘Look At Me Now’ with all my girls with me, even though it was hard as fuck to keep them all in line on set cos they was all gone during filming and I would probably never do it again, I did love every minute of it.

We’re definitely amped to see what more you’ve go in store for your fans this year… Can you give us a hint of what we can look out for?

I am amped as fuck as well mainly because I have no fucking idea what I have in store! Haha a whole lotta new shit, new music, same Sky, you can never know what to expect from me what I bring out next, shit I don’t even know but I think it will be one or two singles then my debut album. One thing people can expect though is no matter what the music will forever be dope. The more Sky’high they want, the more the people will get and you wont be disappointed.

You can find out more on the net so don’t forget to follow me on Twitter and like me on Facebook, it will keep you updated with my latest news plus I’m up on there every now and then so hit me up and have a chat. Anyways thank u C.O.P. for the interrogation lol nah this was fun and now I’m off to get gone. Up up and away, laters Ivee.

When Ivee and I first started looking for feature artists for a new, more diverse-feelin’ mag (i.e. not just writers), it was an in-the-trenches kind of effort where the obvious legends were well established and it was real work finding girls who killed it but you hadn’t read 609,870,000 blog interviews with them already. Well, lately it feels like I’m coming across one or two a week, which is GREAT for what we do but bad for the lazy version of me who’s well and truly been enjoying a more chilled out lifestyle of late. Maybe I should take a leaf out of this chick MC Uzoy‘s book (pronounced “uzi”). It’s probably not just chock full of get-off-your-ass inspiration, but a shit-ton of rhymes as well. Oh, and this clip is awesome, done on some Diary of the Dead home-movie-style shit with a “jungle fever” twist. It’s kinda a slow burn, which I like. Remember when your attention span was more than .32 milliseconds? Yeah me neither.
